Besides inaccuracies in both VGC and this, there are other pints also already named:
- bought the game but didn't yet played it
- played it, but haven't been online and synchronized trophies
- never go online
- bought as christmas gift
This means, for recently released games the above numbers are probably too low.
On the flipside for games that are longer around:
- game played by multiple persons on the same hardware
- game played through and sold used
- played with new accounts for new replay-experience or new online profile
This means game that are longer around have probably higher trophy numbers than sales.
