I think it is perception of playing a game the first time versus replaying it years later. A lot of the wow moments are lost 2nd or 3rd time. Namely when the game play was not the strongest subset criteria of Last of Us, it was the amazing narrative that blows you away. 

I imagine some people will have the same experiences with other strong titles this generation. 

second time still loved it, 3rd time after 3 years, i'm enjoying it, but going from such a action packed game with such amazing intense combat, to last of us is a bit jarring. I always  liked ellie but i found her annoying this time around, like singing ,and whistling, and her playful  attitude, just doesn't fit a world where a person is trying to fight for survival against clickers, and infected I'm really gonna miss joel because his attitude is straight up about survival, makes the world seem more believable to me. 

Wait a kid being well.......a kid doesn't seem believable to you lol?
