The real thing to take away from the way they handled Vision, is the same thing everyone with common sense has been taking away from the way they've handled Vision from the moment they first introduced him. He was brought into the MCU for the sole purpose of dying. He's never been given anything meaningful to do. He's never gotten any iconic moments. He's never been given a chance to demonstrate his real power. No effort was made to create any audience investment for him. He's just a face with an infinity stone in it, and he met the expiration date that was always printed on the bottom of his foot.
