Yeah he enjoyed useing it, and thought kids might too. But theres something to be said for paying 80$ for a kids toy, that ll only last a week.
So while they where positive, theres certainly also downsides. Durability is a real issue with this.

The money is for the Software. You can use any cardboard so it is not like you even have to go far to replace it if need be.

I think Nintendo even said that they were going to put out pdf files with the cardboard patterns.
