On a ten point review scale, what number should represent an average game?

The rating system should never be a mathematical figure because 10 out of 10 is 100% which is perfect. It would make more sense to go by fail, pass, average, great and excellent. There should never be a 5/5 of 10/10 cuz that's a perfect score especially when the reviewer makes it sound so.... which is another topic. 

You have 10 boxes to put games into and you say you willfully ignore one of the boxes, because .... errr... reasons.

Let make the scale smaller, lets say: 1, 2 or 3. Would you still say 3/3 is perfect hence we don't use it? If we only have good or bad, or 1 or 2, you say we can't use 2/2, because nothing is perfect? Sorry, that makes just no sense at all. It isn't thought through. if we don't use a thing, we wouldn't need it in the first place.

The wrong thought is that a 10 means a perfect game. That is just not what the rating implies.
