The PS4 was, however, slightly lower this September than last. Looking at Sony's projection for the financial year, I'm thinking they are expecting the holiday sales in November and December to be on a par to last year at best, and perhaps even slightly worse. And the other three quarters makes up for it by being significantly ahead. Because no way is it going to continue the current rate of outselling 2016 during these next two months.

according to the tool section, September 2016 was higher by 25k. Unless there has been adjustments that haven't made it over there yet. Currently, it says:
September 2016: 1,416,905
September 2017: 1,391,603
so WW it's down, not sure about territory breakdown
