I will have to do it this when I am home but both psvr and PS4 pro had supply issues continuing past holiday season. I can provide sources later. I can most likely pinpoint supply issue for other new sku as well. The only real argument you can present is new console launch. However I chose to say new hardware for a reason.

I'm with Rol on this, we had regular shipments of PS4 in january and even if they sold fast, customers didn't had to wait long for the next shipment. If you want a better exemple, people are waiting in store for deliveries every day for the Switch and last I saw that three months after launch was during the first year of the Wii.

Actually if you are focusing on globally, you did say January. (Since Ps4 didn't launch till last week of February), Sony did have supply issues and I can provide sources of that, but it would be off topic and we did see someone else get in trouble for that last week. Also I was just discussing supply issues, I was not discussing demand side of things.

However Japan issues with Sony has been relative to PSVR, PS4 Pro, and the other nintendo device would be NES Mini (All three still do, I imagine PS4Pro supply chain had to have improved). Source for ps4pro and psvr : http://www.mobipicker.com/sony-apologizes-ps4-pro-psvr-supply-issues/

All three have the common issue of not enough supply and now most likely will never get the sales it most likely lost from not being supplied enough. NES Mini I think suffered the most from not meeting demand, could have sold insane numbers if it was during the holidays. Demand still exists, but nothing like Christmas demand.
