Please let me reiterate. I think it's an incredibly flawed logic to think that Nintendo is going to stop milking every dime they can out of fans like you for as little expense as possible. You are Nintendo's bread and butter.

There are millions of Nintendo fans just like you. Do people honestly think Nitnendo is going to completely abandon a demographic that buys 2-3-4 iterations of their hardware, and dozens of games to try and and get some positive PR and capture a couple million more casual fans that might buy 3-4  games, and have no interest in buying multiple pieces of hardware? They make far more money selling someone like you two incompatible pieces of hardware, and making you buy the same games multiple times to play it on both (because lets be honest here, you or someone you know probably will).

I really don't think they're going to abandon it so easily when they know they can easily make a derivative handheld based on Switch hardware that is incredibly easy to port games to that will have you (or someone like you) going out and buying that hardware pretty much day one and buy half of your Switch library all over again just so you can get the "deluxe" version of say, Breath of the Wild, or Splatoon 2, or Mario Odyssey that cost them just a fraction of the original titles to make.

They most certainly will abandon it if the financials make sense for them.   What do you think the costs are of running 2 seperate hardware and software divisions are? 2 seperate shipping channels, 2 seperate marketing campaigns, 2 seperate developer support systems, 2 seperate R&D divisions....and on and on and on.

Again, context, frame of reference and circumstances of the variables.

Oh, and who the hell is going to buy a "portable" Switch and rebuy half their Switch games for it?

Do you think Sony has two seperate divisions for the PS4 and PS4 Pro? Do you think that they would need to if the PS4 Pro accepted their own unique "high capacity" 4K Blu-ray discs that were incompatible with regular PS4s that they would need to create all of the seperate channels above you listed?

Who said anything about having two sepeate divisions for all of that stuff? What I'm talking about is a handheld that would be slightly more difficult  to support as the PS4 Pro is, except it takes a different shaped cartridge because money.
