Exactly. And some people seem to have a very difficult time grasping this concept. In my own home, we had 1 Wii U and 4 3DS's. Now just 1 Switch (possibly another later on though). A 1:1 transition is just not going to happen and its an incredibly flawed logic to compare number to number with no context, frame of reference and acknowledgement of the circumstances of the 2 variables. |
Please let me reiterate. I think it's an incredibly flawed logic to think that Nintendo is going to stop milking every dime they can out of fans like you for as little expense as possible. You are Nintendo's bread and butter.
There are millions of Nintendo fans just like you. Do people honestly think Nitnendo is going to completely abandon a demographic that buys 2-3-4 iterations of their hardware, and dozens of games to try and and get some positive PR and capture a couple million more casual fans that might buy 3-4 games, and have no interest in buying multiple pieces of hardware? They make far more money selling someone like you two incompatible pieces of hardware, and making you buy the same games multiple times to play it on both (because lets be honest here, you or someone you know probably will).
I really don't think they're going to abandon it so easily when they know they can easily make a derivative handheld based on Switch hardware that is incredibly easy to port games to that will have you (or someone like you) going out and buying that hardware pretty much day one and buy half of your Switch library all over again just so you can get the "deluxe" version of say, Breath of the Wild, or Splatoon 2, or Mario Odyssey that cost them just a fraction of the original titles to make.
