That makes sense to me. My wife had pre-ordered the Switch for me, but not Breath of the Wild. So when it arrived on launch day, I drove to Toys R Us to pick-up a copy. The game case wall full of copies of Breath of the Wild, but there were people in the store asking for the Switch which as sold out. It wouldn't surprise if a proportion of them bought games in advance of being able to get a hold of the hardware.
