The power cord thing with N3DS was just stupid and many, MANY nintendo fans were angry over it. Nintendo does some stupid things, just like Sony last gen with the price for PS3, Microsoft this generation with price and the damn power brick. These big publishers does stupid things and if there are really stupid things, consumers usually punish them for it. But I don't see Nintendo being dumber than anyone else, just a bit more cautious with catering to everyone's needs all the time.
And I like that they aren't raving over having the beat co sole performance all the time. They understand that consoles will never ever compete in performance with PC, so better focus on being a quality cosole with good graphics, a fast interface and great games.
