Of course, because when you take it off the dock, it may not always be to continue playing right away.

Plus it's a fast and smart way to sync up the joycons or whatever controller you want to use, i.e. changing from pro on couch to joycons on the go.

Either way I think the MK8 footage shown was a replay and Link stood still; only the Splatoon one showed a celebration of some sorts while undocking.
