Nope also this was known for along time.

It makes sense too, you want to be able to use it as a console and then remove it, and keep playing your game.

That cant happend if your HDD is hooked up to the dock, and the game is on the HDD.

 

*if* they allow external hard drives, they might not allow you to play games off of it.

You would just need to select which titles you can take on the go and which you can play at home with the dock.
A simple data management app can do it.
