We all have safe spaces. We invite only friends not enemies to our homes, because we wanna feel safe at home. In time of crisis we tend to rely on family, so family is sort of a safe space.
How is it about public spaces? Well, that depends on the definition of safe space. Do I want the public being free of crime and abuse? Sure. That doesn't qualify it for me as a safe space, but some people might see it that this is enough to call it safe space.
