It's not the consumers fault in my opinion. Consumers should not be forced to study what Nintendo did in the past before buying their new console they're selling. Nintendo did an awful job with Wii U. It's Nintendo's fault. Even considering Nintendo's past, Wii U is one of their worst consoles ever, maybe the worst. It lacks some of Nintendo's own franchises and it was dead one year before the release of the NS. Wii U is horrible, no one could predict that some years ago.

[Raises hand] I predicted it!  I predicted it would be crap!

Seriously, OK, consumers don't "research" the product they are buying... So whatever assumptions they make out of ignorance is OK?
How does that work though, because different ignorant consumers can make different unfounded assumptions which are mutually incompatable.
And I find this line of thinking strange, because it only makes sense for consumers who had never owned a Nintendo console previously.
Of course, Nintendo fucked up with Wii U.  Plenty of people called it from the beginning, but fact is: companies fuck up sometimes.  Deal with it.

You're assuming that I'm being extreme and you're going to another extreme. Consumer can be ignorant, but when a company doesn't support a console it's still a fact that they're not supporting it. Wii U support is worse than any other console.

People have to deal with it, but it's still a fact that Nintendo fucked it and fucked them.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019
