Could possibly be that Nintendo is trying to make it more like a tablet with finger touch controls with no styuls.. but could be that it is dropped completely, which I wouldn't actually mind either

I agree with you there, they could be going that route... but a stylus obscures the screen less and you gain some dexterity. For example, picross works bad on mobile due to the touch controls, but on a Samsung Note it's great
