a free to play Pokemon game being a massive success really isnt proof that Nintendo's $40-60 games will do significantly better on other consoles.

Mario's going to be interesting because it isn't fully free, just free to start (as Iwata used to say), then you have to pay for the full game. 

If that's a success it will show at least on iOS there is a big market for Nintendo IP, even at a price.
