Based on their financials, their current assets (or what Pachter is calling cash in the bank) was at US$17.1B back in 2010 actually. I guess the strong yen hit them hard as well. 

Why are you converting in the era, it is not like any one does that unless they are investor in that era they invested in. It was 1,591 Billion Yen and now they have 1,021 Billion Yen.  

Also care to showcase comparison in current liabilities difference between 2010 and now, because if you are talking about how liquid a company is, you need to factor that. 

(This is also response to your post, because this pretty sure he mean Cash and Cash Instruments and not Current Assets, never seen anyone refer to Current Asset as Cash in the Bank.)
