Thinking about the supply issue thing, remember last year when digitimes was saying that Nintendo was going manufacture a lot of units of an unnamed console starting in June. A good chance it was probally for the NES mini, since if I remember correctly the information was supplied mainly from the people who supplied the plastic component so there is a high chance it was for this, and 40 million units for something like this is plausible since it is a standalone unit.
