Probably not since it appears you need a pot but maybe you need to put a pot over the fire because what other purpose would burning grass serve?

They showed throwing steaks directly onto the fire. Its not quite as good, but it works in a pinch. Not sure about grass fires, but if they stay up long enough, I don't see why not.
