Couldn't I just get the Wii and Wii U games on the NX console if the library is good enough?

I highly doubt the NX will have double level backwards compatibility.

The Wii U right now gives you access to...

Twilight Princess (with a superior HD version)
Wind Waker HD
Smash 4
Mario Kart 8 with two exceptional DLC packs (the current standard bundle comes MK8 and both DLC packs)
Splatoon
Super Mario 3D World
Mario Maker
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
Pokken Tournament
Wonderful 101
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Xenoblade Chronicles (the Wii version is the definite superior one)
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
The Last Story
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Kirby's Return to Dreamland
Metroid Prime Trilogy (you can get it digitally on Wii U for $20 and is one of the best coor games on the Wii and my personal favorite use of motion controls to create a superior experience)
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Just to name some of the big, exclusive highlights that come to mind :P

And that's not to even speak of the exclusive or console exclusive indie darlings like FAST Racing Neo, Runbow, Affordable Space Adventures, and Freedom Planet.

I mean, I'm not saying you should absolutely buy one but don't doubt the value potential if you skipped the Wii.  Some of the most acclaimed games and  definitely the most acclaimed exclusives of the last gen and this gen are on the system.

Exactly.

Those games + all the Wii gems since Wii U runs Wii games. So if someone skipped Wii, I think getting a Wii U now is a great deal to have access to lots of great games.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019
