I will ignore you badmouthing jojo and yuyu hakusho for now, but don't do that again...

As for a shounen that goes with your characteristics, one i can think of is Medaka Box, it's really good. At least the manga is, never saw the anime of it. The first few chapters are kind of SoL-like, but then it goes full on shonen after those. Might want to check that one out.

I didn't. I just put those on my "comic book" bracket and usually don't bother with their animes... Medaka does fit it, but I wanted to make sure if that was the newest one before I tried it out... That's what I am trying to say! It's become less common to find tons of long runners in recent years. Series are leaning for shorter "seasons" over the 100+ episode arcs I favor...

There's not really any new long running shounen that I can think of besides World Trigger. I looked up what shounen meant and that's a very loose term to describe as a genre. Terraformars fits the definition in my opinion. haha.

If I were you, I would watch something older. Nothing wrong with diving into the older stuff especially if you've never seen it. Just some examples. Fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood, Inuyasha, Hunter X Hunter.

Thing is, I already did older, and Hunter x Hunter had a conception of their world that sort of warded me off... But I agree with the definition of shounen. Shounen means a lot of stuff, so I stick with the purist definition of "superhero fantasy manga with a teen protagonist". It's like comic books as "superhero stories" even though comic books are more than just Justice League and Spiderman...

What didn't you like about Hunter X hunter or what warded you off from it, if you don't mind me prying?
