Ugh. You guys don't even understand how much I'm praying that Splatoon 2 is actually a good game. I like literally everything coming out of this franchise but the disaster that is the actual release, and nothing would please me more than to have to eat my words with the second game. The Squid sisters being this well received gets me sooo excited.

I wouldn't say I disliked the first game, but otherwise I agree. This franchise has so much potential (SO. MUCH.) and I'd hate to see it be wasted on an endless sea of generational multiplayer experiences like Mario Kart and Smash. They can actually expand on the story and backstory they set up so well in the first game, expand on Inkopolis and actually make it a fully fledged city, flesh out characters and so much more. Of course, multiplayer is always going to be the focus but they can do so much more with single player (and especially local multiplayer for god's sake).

I liked the single player a lot, it has a lot of potential like you mention, it's much more puzzle orientated which I love. I still played the multiplayer during the summer and fall until I got somewhat bored of it. Weapons updates were boring, and I'd only return to maybe try some new map or a Splatfest. Since December I haven't tried any of the new content. Similar thing happens with Mario Kart, play a lot at the beginning to then just get bored, and kinda lost interest when the 200cc came up.

Hopefully the next entry has an awesome single player mode! ...(that's not hidden away by amiibo)

(Single player content is the main reason why I didn't buy Smash4)
