I think the PS3 "beating" the 360 is a forgon conclusion, but I don't see it as bad as most.

Think back to last generation Sony held something like 65-70% of the market share and Microsoft was just edging out Nintendo to keep out of last place. Now we see the XBox 360 which has held a lead on the PS3 for nearly 2 years not (albeit they had a 1 year head start but that's just smart IMO). The 360 has great 3rd Party support massive amounts of games (even if people like to say all they have is shooters) and is capturing a market share that without some kind of catastrophy will be significantly larger than the original XBox's.

So the XBox360 has:
Increased market share
Increased Actual number of hardware sold (barring some huge mess up)
Increased Diversity and Overall Quality of Games
and actually made Microsoft some money

While the PS3 has:
Lost market share (most likely)
Decreased the actual number of hardware sold (if it hits 120mil before 2015 I will eat my shirt)
And lost some of its exclusives.

Don't get me wrong I don't mean to bash Sony they have a fine machine that is a beauty to play on but I think people don't give the 360 enough credit as to how well it is doing.

PS. This is all coming from a BigNintendo/LittleSony fan who will probably never even dream of purchasing a Microsoft gaming system.

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.
