Not really. TFA gets the advantage of China being a bigger market and a favorable exchange rate compared to 2009 in that country. Not to mention the higher ticket prices. And in other countries, like Australia, TFA is tracking behind Avatar by quite a lot (in local currency). |
The 100-200 million million extra in China will not be enough to offset the currency exchange, and it still hasn't finished it's run in Australia, give it time, also as someone mentioned the currency exchange rate for Latin America was muh more favorable for Avatar, the average ticket prices in Brazil were in the mid3 dollar range, while for Avatar in the mid 5 dollar range.
But if TFA doesn't pass Avatar, then even with the favorable currency exchange rate, Avatar is still is deserved king, since it isn't Fox's or Camerons fault that the exchange rates change a lot.
