It is the internet these days, sad state of affairs. The Harry Potter thing most likely happened past the last couple of years, and on top of that, book audience aren't as easily outraged by corporations compared to gamers unless the author is getting screwed.
At the end, this is case that party was happening using unlicensed content that was being used and created revenue (as little as it may be), something that is against the law.
