A lot of people keep saying that Nintendo is holding back on Wii supplies for specific game launches, but I really don't think that's the case. It doesn't make much sense to delay the revenue the sales would generate or pay the storage costs to do so. (Though I'd imagine that Nintendo does have some fixed storage facilities that they'd be paying for if they were empty or full.)
Many have speculated that Nintendo has increased output, but the sales numbers don't support that. Maybe we'll get more answers from Nintendo's next shareholder's meeting on 6/28.
So back to topic, Wii reaches 3M in 4 weeks. The PS3 reaches 1M in 4 weeks or 36 weeks after its launch. (A milestone the Wii reached in 6.)
Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.
