Nintendo has an entirely different design mentality from Sony and MS with there consoles focusing on more of the needs of Japan and making theirconsole low consumption. Nintendo, like MS thought that the perpheral would be enough to offset the price, forgetting that the Wiimote on the other hand was cheap. Nintendo should've learned there lesson from the 3D feature of the 3ds.

At the same time, there isn't a real point for them to go for even xb1esque power since their 3rd party is already dismal.

lol, what peripheral? and the gamepad always costed far less than kinect.

"there isn't a real point for them to go for even xb1esque power"

of course not, the wii u sucessor will be far more powerfull than x1.

The gamepad, which by definition is a peripheral.

When refering to the price addition of the gamepad, it is always in reference to price of the sku since the gamepad has never been standalone. Mentioning the kinect is pointless when I'm talking about the gamepad's effect on the SKU price, I only mentioned microsoft because of the kinects effect on the SKU price as well. Point being, the Wii U's sku price was driven up by the gamepad.

The Wii U successor the NX most likely wasn't in plans when Wii U was being designed, it makes no sense to say the the successor will be stronger then the XB1 which came out a year after the Wii U. Furthermore, even if the NX dwarfs even the PS4 in power, it won't make a bit of difference if the 3rd parties who can utilize that support arent there. Keep in mind, Nintendo itself struggled with HD games, hence the drought that plagued the Wii U, Nintendo released it too early.
