Boxer's can lose all kinds of muscle mass in their legs, and it doesn't matter in the slightest, because they don't have to deal with leg kicks, leg bars, tosses, wrestling etc... MMA fighters do. And if you hadn't noticed, Rousey has actually moved DOWN in class, since her Judo competitions. It's entirely possible she realized she needed different weight distribution to fight MMA versus strictly Judo? Just a guess, no real proof of that. You can say she's 'ducking' her, but yeah, kinda hard to 'duck' people who aren't in your division, at a weight you've never competed at in MMA before. Funny how the same isn't being said of Roidborg. |
Well Anderson Silva moved back and forth between two weight classes constantly and he was still kicking ass. Rashad Evans did the same. The reason everyne talks about Rousey ducking Cyborg is because she claims she can beat anyone, even mentioning men in higher weight classes. You mention Cyborg to her and because she knows that's a fight that can happen it's always she needs to come down to my weight class and fight me. It's only that now she uses being UFC champ as her excuse. This fight wouldn't be about the belt since Cyborg is champion in her weight class so why not fight at a catch weight. That's what all the greats have done. Plus the match could be made easily since they're both under Zuffa (UFC and Invicta FC).
