There are no requirements for anything. Theoretically, you can turn off all auto-mapmaking features and forego drawing a map yourself, and still beat the game. Obviously, it will be difficult to find your way around. Marking points of interest doesn't take much time, but it is of great help. For example, you might come across a hot spring or something in a dead end; that point is of no use at that time, but putting down a note makes the place easy to find again if you take on a sidequest that requires you to go to that point. Which points you consider important is up to you and it really doesn't take much time to add notes; this can also be done during battles, so you can work on your map while you are waiting for all party and enemy actions to play out during a turn. And if you are seriously lazy, there are always floor maps on Gamefaqs where you can look up all points of interest. |
I appreciate your response alot, thank you so much.
However, the comment that is bolded was quite unnessecary. It's not that I'm lazy and don't want to do it, it's just that it does not appeal to me and makes me bored of it quite quickly. (Which is what happened when I played the demos) it just turned me off.
