As for the rest, yes I don't need to play them. Looking at the pics and comparing them with real screenshots is enough.
Most screenshots without any kind of HUD are used as promotional shots and thus most likely bullshots. Which is easily noticeable when the image appears to be too clean (anti-aliasing which isn't usually there) or when the image size is bigger than the native output.
The Smash Bros WiiU picture for example is 1262p. Also that picture was uploaded before the game came out, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that Nintendo helped a bit here and there with the image quality, which is what all publishers are doing.
