People who are suggesting a price cut at E3 for PS4 are crazy. Cuts boost sales, and doing it before the quiet summer months takes away much of its impact.

PS2. First price cut in May 2002. 40% YoY boost to sales for the remainder of the year, with Q1 2003 being up over 18% from Q1 2002.

Well most consoles are up in the second full year. I still think waiting until the holidays may make a bigger impact, and may even mean Sony can afford to cut the price by $70 instead of $50. But who knows. They won't do both so we will never be able to compare.
