Nintendo Entertainment System did around 3x better in North America than Europe lifetime.
Super Nintendo Entertainment System did around 3x better in North America than Europe lifetime.
Nintendo 64 did around 3x better in North America than Europe lifetime.
Gamecube did around 3x better in North America than Europe lifetime.

Ok, you stop to GameCube. But after that?

You can't compared console 10/20 years old.....

The market is chance, one time Nintendo was like XBOX, with some like 50/60 % of the sales in the US... indeed look GBA and GC. US sales:

GBA: 40,000,000 (50% of total sales)

GC: 12,000,000 (60% of total sales)

And look what is happen last gen.

Wii: 40,000,000 (40% of total sales)

DS: 55,000,000 (35% of total sales)

The gap Europe - North America is not bigger like one time...

Wii, DS and Gameboy were all successfully Wii U is not successfully. Gamecube and N64 also weren't successfully.
Comparing Wii U with Gamecube and N64 is more logical than comparing Wii U with Wii and DS.
