Maybe Nintendo is doing some outreach to certain devs to try and soothe things over ahead of the NX generation. They wouldn't necessarily have to "pay" for anything as many people suggest, it could be as simple as waiving licensing fees on the game. Since it likely wouldn't sell a ton anyway, but Nintendo would want it to be able to say to their fans that at least they tried with one of the bigger third party IP.
Though I wouldn't get too carried away ... last year people said COD was coming to Wii U because of Wii U was listed on the website database or something.
