What different world? The one today where everyone on this board is most likely able to get their own job and doesn't have to beg their parents for their game systems?

Or the one in which buying a new smartphone every 1-2 years is perfectly acceptable? The world in which an 8 year old has a $500 tablet so they can play Candy Crush and watch cartoons?

Meh, if anything you guys have it easy today. Whining about $60 games for example? Try $90 for a brand new copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 ($150 or so with inflation) and get back to me. /end Cranky Kong rant.

I agree with the majority of this. I buy a 100$ smartphone every year and have no issue with 60$ games (at launch, Nintendo should learn to drop prices though) and I do would never give a kid a tablet or phone. Leapfrog products and then Nintendo products for my kids lol

Not only that the pre-owned market today is huge. You can find basically any huge release discounted massively usually after a few months. I remember the EB next to my house had Destiny for like $30. Watch Dogs for $20.

LOL, in the NES/SNES days ... Punch-Out was $50 in 1987 and it was $50 in 1990 and that was that. If you wanted it you paid the full freaking sticker price or you had to go to Blockbuster/Mom N' Pops Rental Store and rent it for the weekend.

Besides really Nintendo's support of any console after year 4 post-SNES is utter shite. Who cares if they skip that crap period and just go straight to the next machine.

Good riddance to bad rubbish I say. 2005/06 was shit for the GameCube. 2011/12 was shit for the Wii. 2001 was midly shit but still shit nontheless for the N64. Like who cares? If Nintendo supports the Wii U in 2017 guess what the support for it is going to be like? That's right. Shit.

To me really I say what's wrong with just skipping this "shit phase"? It's not shit because Nintendo hates you, it's just logistical thing ... regardless of if NX even launches in 2016 or not, all the dev teams will have to start working on NX software in 2016 to make sure the system actually has games for 2017, 2018, etc.

I think if we rationally even look at Nintendo's history in the last 20 years, they should have launched the GameCube one year earlier (in 2000) and they Wii U is most definitely at least a year late if not more.
