NX will be multiple platforms, Iwata stated they want multiple form factors, maybe even more than just 2 even.
Like for example if you tell me you have a Mac ... OK, but that doesn't really tell me anything though.
Do you have an iMac? Mac mini? Macbook? Mac Pro? "Mac" is just an all-encompassing term for a hardware line. Notice how Nintendo refuses to specify the NX as a console OR handheld ... they just refer to it as a generic "game platform" ... that's another tip off right there.
NX will likely be like that (or iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch if you wish) ... similar hardware/software repurposed into several form factors which the consumer can pick and choose from.
