The WiiU is a console for U (you). They said so at the E3 reveal and nowhere else since. It's a console meant for us, not them, whoever they are. It's not the WiiDEM, is it?
The new 3DS is a new 3DS, not an old 3DS. No one wants an old 3DS when you got a new 3DS just like no one wants an old slice of pizza when they can make themselves a sandwich.
So I don't see the confusion.
