Sony is selling fast, but that doesn't say that they'll sell long. And there's millions of PS2 customers, that went to smartphone and tablet. That casual crowd Sony got back then as well as the 'core' gamers. Those mobile japanese, that don't seem to buy any home console today.

Last gen market growth: keep in mind that the last console gen was seven/eight years for MS and Sony. PS2 was sold over 12 years. This gen neither will last as long nor be sold as long.

Sure, PS4 is selling extremely well right now and will do so for some time. But with much tougher competition from MS than back in PS2 days from all competitors together, shorter lifecycle than last gen and,actually important, a trend to early jumpon every bandwagon by customers.

again i'm going to sound like a fanboy but the only reason it's selling better than it's predecessors is because of the fire sales that the original and the 360 didn't have
