Why? Their stories are not connected. It's like saying, I won't buy TLoZ: Skyward Sword because I've never played Spirit Tracks. 

Bad anology. A more fitting one would be not watching Halloween 4-8 if I couldn't get a hold of Halloween 3. When that movie has no link to the whole series. The point is I wanted both. And not a down port, on top of a locked system game. I have no real drive to buy the series without it. Don't want to go near Gamestop. Don't want a N3ds.

The best analogy is saying "I won't play FF9 until I play FF8."
