I think he's right that they have a game library with broad appeal. Porblem is the console itself is not very appealing. And core gamers drive console sales 9 generations out of 10. Or rather 7 generations out of 8 since we aren't at 10 generations.

Did the interviewer ask "So if you have all this broad and appealing game content, why is Wii U selling like the Gamecube instead of the Wii?"


Simplest answer: iPhone/Android/iPad took away the "broad" (read: fringe gamer) demographic, and the other part of the "broad" audience is take by Sony/MS (the COD/Destiny/Ass Creed crowd). Take those two components out and the "broad" audience suddenly isn't so "broad". 

But Reggie obviously can't say that publicly.
