No Suprise at all. The Mario Party games have always sold well. This is how the Cube games panned out in NA.

While the sales clearly decreased for each iteration (and rightfully so!), the Wii is the perfect fit for Mario Party, and I wouldn't be suprised if MP 8 outsells them all, despite it's rather mixed reviews.
The crazy market will be Japan. In Japan, Mario Party 4 was the second highest selling Gamecube title.
