Is there a way for them to use ARM while keeping BC? I still seriously doubt they're letting that go. Not with their plans to "absorb the Wii U's architecture."

Well they could just leave a PowerPC chip in there. But that is an extra cost that is probably not worth it. If they make the system powerful enough they coul also consider a software based solution. System architecture doesn't neccesserily mean the exact same CPU architecture. They are most likely talking more broadly in terms of the entire system (having a SoC that includes both CPU+GPU, unified memory etc) and/or the software architecture and associated APIs.

But maybe I am wrond and they will invest in PowerPC again at the expense of their other systems. I just don't see that as being a good choice in the long term. Not when ARM is so much more flexable, cheaper and scalable.
