Disagree. SPM had an okay story, but it was NOTHING on PM:TTYD story. Just because you're saving the multiverse instead of the world doesn't make it automatically better. TTYD has better characters, better humor, and better writing in general. SPM isn't terrible, but to me the writing was the second worst of the Mario RPGs. Still not terrible, but a poor excuse for an RPG story. Nowhere near as bad as Sticker Star. Sticker Star was so horrendous I've seen Mario platformers with better story. Of course, Sticker Star was barely an RPG at all, but whatever. |
Absofriggenlutely, TTYD was as near perfection as Paper Mario could be. I agree with everything you said, since I haven't played SPM or SS I simply speak from what I've gathered from friends and the internet but I still emulate PM and TTYD frequently. I just wish Shadow Queen was more integral or at the very least they explore Evil Peach and Luigi again.
One of my fondest memories of gaming was getting lost in the desert of Paper Mario, although I recognize how finite it is now, back then it was like GTA V to me lol.
