Oh man don't reference Thousand Year Door to me or your going to cause me to play the Paper Mario games all over again too soon. I have to wait to replay them until right before the next Paper Mario games comes out.
On main topic though, I think that most games with color in them feel way too limited in terms of art design because most of these game worlds look the same everywhere. One of the main reasons I couldn't tolerate Skyrim is because everywhere in the game looks the same, all the caves look the same, all the dungeons. It just gets asthetically boring. You can make a b/w Zelda game with unique shapes/buildings/etc. that look drastically different from one another while retaining the b/w theme.

I can agree with the dungeons feeling samey, but if you explored skyrim itself, then you would know it was a really varied land, aesthetically speaking.
