A fair question is "who is the bayonetta fanbase?" What does our data say about what sales were before the game hit the bargain bin? How quickly did the game get there? |
The Bayonetta fanbase is obviously not going to be the whole 2m that the original sold, but I also doubt that the fanbase (defined as anyone who actually cares about getting a sequel) is less than 500k. Even if we assume it is, Bayonetta 2 has the exposure and we know there should be newcomers to the series coming in. That number could be very low, but it doesn't need to be very high for it to get past the 500k threshold. Also, this game can ALSO benefit from the "bargain bin" if the original benefitted that much.
Of course, I don't think 500k is a dumb prediction since it really depends on how many that liked the original will move to the Wii U and get the game. I don't have too much faith that solely on newcomers, the game can pass 500k.
