I think most people see Mario Kart for what it is, a game that score huge on top of the Wii tidal wave. Of those 35m people that bought MK Wii, I will be surprise if 85% came back for MK8 on the Wii U. They were casuals that bought it because it was cool at the time. They are not coming back. Of the 11m that bought SSBB on the Wii, I expect at least 40%+ to come back. Whereas Mario Kart is a casuals game, SSB is a Nintendo fans and "hardcore" gamer's game. Reading gaming forums it is not MK that many xbox and PS gamers would buy a Wii u for, it is SSB. The casual Wii era is over and MK won that. This is now the Wii U era and I predict SSB to win this time around or at the very least equal MK. Lets wait and see. |
Super Smash also has a cult following due to the fact that it is very popular in the cometitive gaming scene, something that is only getting bigger and bigger. So it has that in it's corner as well. Like I've said, Nintendo needs to get more of these MP games out because that is where the gaming market is at right now.
