Without at least one of these concessions, they will have sent the game out to die, and I have no interest in supporting their actions in such a situation. There will be enough games on my to-buy list that Watch Dogs needs to be more than just the PS3 version with a few touchpad functions tacked on, at the same price that the other versions have already launched at. Note that I bought Rayman Legends as my first non-bundled game (got premium Wii U, so I got NintendoLand with the system), and I've also bought CoD:G, ACIII, and Sonic Lost World, so nobody can accuse me of failing to support third parties, and especially Ubisoft. And there are titles we already know about from third parties that have my interest, and there's going to be more coming from E3 (for instance, I'm really interested to see what Natsume has in store). I probably would have bought Watch Dogs either at release or some time this month (due to Mario Kart 8, which was going to get precedence for obvious reasons), if Ubisoft had given me the opportunity. |
Well said, well said. This sums up how I feel about it too.
Release a solid port with extra content or price reduction: I buy immediately or soon afterward
Release a shitty excuse of a port with no incentives: pick it up cheap after a few months
