I think they should make like 3-4 unlockable for other franchises. Where you have to work really hard to unlocke them (IE you can't unlock every character in two days). And dress them in a mario costume or something.
I think the main problem is they added too much crap characters as well. If they wanted to add only popular characters and not other smaller ones. Other nintendo franchises would have been preferred. The more interesting mario characters not used would have been preffered as well. They basically picked really bad variations to add to the roster.
