Casual market is lame. Even though it hurts Nintendo now to not have them, if (and that's a big if) they can get over it and modernize, they will be a better company for it. We were seeing some ugly trends develop as Nintendo got too drunk off their Wii/Touch Generations success (ie: E3 with Ravi Drums and Wii Music).
Chasing fads instead of making substantive gaming experiences was never going to end well for Nintendo, that's just not who they are as a company.
