An E3 conference isn't going to change Nintendo's fate this generation. The 3DS is going to sell about half of the DS, and the Wii U is going to be a GameCube-like failure.
An E3 conference isn't changing either of those things.
They might as well save a few bucks and not have one.
Next year, when they have something legitimately new to show ... probably their next-gen handheld, then they will probably go back to having a stage show.
